CPT Louis William Howe was an Infantry Officer who earned his first Combat Infantryman Badge during service with "G" Company, 385th Infantry Regiment, 76th Infantry Regiment in the European Theater of Operations, World War II. Following studies at the Infantry School, Ft. Benning, GA in 1950, he received an assignment to the 3rd Infantry Division and deployed with the Division to Korea during the Korean War. His AoG Memorial Article indicates he was the Commander of "E" Company, 16th Infantry, 3 ID when, leading from the front against communist forces, he was mortally wounded. Thus, he earned his CIB with Star (2d Award). Burial was at the USMA Cemetery (VII, E, 241).
