Be Thou At Peace

I went to Pope Pius HS in Passaic NJ, class of 1965. I was a member of the football team, a starting fullback. I and a number of players remembered watching Bill Sipos play for Pope Pius when we were in grammar school. He was an All-State football and baseball player and we were in awe of him. My senior year he had leave before going overseas and he spent three weeks coaching the starting backfield. He was an inspiration to us and until this day I always remember the positive attitude he instilled in us. When I learned of his death in Vietnam I was terribly shocked. In those three short weeks he made an indelible mark on my life. God bless him. |
