Dear Mr. & Mrs. Zilinski, Although I did not know your son, Dennis, personally, I did know another Army swim captain who died in service to his country - Mike Kilroy. Mike, who was my boyhood friend, swim teammate, and companymate, died almost 40 years ago, yet he lives on in my heart and the hearts of all of us who knew him. To this day, I - and every other member of the Army swim team who knew him and every one of his company mates - visit Mike's grave each time we are at West Point. He was a swell guy - just like your son! I know that Dennis received the Michael Kilroy award because of his "captainship" of the Army swim team. I am certain that your son will be remembered and honored for years to come by his many teammates and companymates. I'll make a point to stop by and have a chat with Mike AND Dennis from now on.
