Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Meryl Curran on June 12, 2024:

Fisherman, rugby player, Veteran, and retired engineer Howard Kuschick's love of life didn't end with his death. Howard passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the age of 74.

Howard completed his Bachelor of Science degree at West Point, graduating as a 2nd Lieutenant of Infantry. While serving five years of active duty, he commanded an Armored Infantry Company stationed in the Fulda Gap in Germany and the training company at Fort Dix in New Jersey. Following his service, Howard spent his career as an engineer at Ford, leading their first electric vehicle plans. Howard's happy places were the middle of the ocean on a fishing boat, with his rugby buddies, and with his family.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Howard. He loved a quiet afternoon with friends or a good, long bike ride. During fishing season, Howard enjoyed two-day fishing excursions, and when he wasn't fishing, he was in a scrum on the rugby field. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities and adventures. His personality was contagious to everyone he met. Howard is survived by his sister, Debbie Faden, his brother-in-law, Rich Faden; his nieces, Meryl Curran, and Stephanie Derey, and their families (Joe, Grace, Brianna, Ilan, Eitan, and Gilit), his nephew, Stan Kuschick, and his countless cousins and "chosen family" members across the Great Lakes and eastern seaboard.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 10:30 am EDT at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, in Holly, MI.
