Be Thou At Peace

Posted by william weatherby on June 24, 2024:

"Duty, Honor, Country" These are the value you instilled in me as a teen ager thinking about service in the military. They have ruled my life since then. Dad I miss you terribly, and I think of you OFTEN.
I only wish I could have seen and talk to you one more time before you joined the "Long Gray Line" but your daughter and her husband stole that from me. But that is okay because we talk late at night when I can not sleep - I know you are there listening.
I fondly remember you teaching me to body surf, fly u-control airplanes, shooting rockets when I was young, I remember you coming to visit me while I was in basic training and afterwards when I was stationed at Ft. Hood and us shooting skeet and trap at the Fort's gun range. My most fond memory was taking you to get your hair cut the short months you stayed with us in Nashville, our talks, my questions and your very frank answers.
I love you Dad!
