I had the great honor to serve in combat under the squadron command of then lieutenant colonel Haponski. He gave me the great honor as a first Lt to command in a captains position the aero scout platoon of D Troop (Air) first squadron fourth cavalry first infantry division 1969. Colonel Haponski commanded from the front and was often above me on significant events. I was happy to coordinate with him certain elements of his books on the quarter Cav after the war.
