Be Thou At Peace
Posted by John Swensson on August 18, 2024:
In 1997 I caught up with Dave and Linda again as I took a business class from them while I was in Maui for a year teaching and they were in Oahu, but they did make an interisland visit. They were teaching for UH Manoa. After Linda had passed a couple of years later Susan and I traveled to Oahu and Dave and Sandy very graciously offered the Oahu Beach House referred to by Bob Frank. We spent a delightful five days with them including a church visit to hear the USNA Glee Club. Who knew squids could sing. At a USMA glee club reunion a couple of years ago (Thank you, Terry Ryan) I was in Eisenhower Hall and I found a plaque saying that Dave Bangert had donated $250,000 to Eisenhower Hall. He had never mentioned it. He crossed the bar in an unusual fashion sharing the reasons for and manner of his demise with us all. His last letter was a beautiful argument. If anyone has Sandy's phone number, I would appreciate it. Thanks, John And Susan 408-590-4430
