Mel Remus set an example for us all during our time in Vietnam. He encouraged us to do our best and offered help when we needed it. He exemplified good planning, hard work, and responsibility (okay. YOU have the Red Ball on this one, right?). Mel cared deeply for his men, and had a great sense of humor. Every time I saw him, after Vietnam, we would laugh about my job drilling water wells and how the firebases where we worked were usually on high hills. It was a privilege and an honor to serve with him in the 84th Engineers. |
