Classmate Tom Hayes, B4, was the company CO who was assigned the task of handling the dead on FB Mary Ann. Tom told me the following in the 1990s: Barry was found dead on top of a dead VC. Barry had been shot in the back: one fist was around the throat of the VC under Barry; his other hand was gripping a knife. Today there is a plaque in Arvin Gym honoring Barry as a Brigade Open boxing champion - Barry was a fighter. |
