Be Thou At Peace

John and I grew up on the same street in Stamford, CT. We were like 8, 9, 10 yo. Played street football, baseball, and of course, "army" in the woods behind our houses near the Mianus River. John's father was transferred to Indiana, Mound I recall. And I never heard from him again. Shortly thereafter, my father was transferred to the SF Bay Area. I attended HS at Menlo-Atherton. Junior year I was walking down the main hallway and who is coming the other way? Wait for it, John Bone! We rekindled our relationship and had some good times. I recall he wanted into the USMA. Made it on second try. Then never heard from him again. Until, coming up is our 50th HS reunion. I inquired about classmates that had passed. Saddened to hear John was amongst them. Wish we could have connected more often. I am sure I will see him in the kingdom of heaven! RIP John! |
