Be Thou At Peace

Posted by George Bell on September 20, 2024:

Bob was a big man, both in stature and in accomplishments. He also was a brave soldier, an outstanding All American athlete and a dedicated classmate and West Pointer. There are few if any individuals who have had as great an impact on the Class of 1965. Besides being a dedicated class officer, he organized annual class golf outings for over two decades, providing hundreds of our classmates the opportunity to see each other more frequently than just at reunions. These outings allowed so many of us to bond and develop close friendships over the years. Being a runt, I did not know "Bob the Flanker" well at West Point, but 17 years ago I was fortune to move to North Carolina only a short distance from Bob & Faye. Not only did our friendship grow, but I had the unique opportunity to observe and value this unselfish and dedicated man, especially in his intense efforts to promote Army Lacrosse. Bob put his energy into these acts not for himself but out of love for his classmates, LAX and his alma mater. Bob always wore a soft smile with a confident glint in his eye knowing that life is good and he remained this way even during his hospice care. Good bye my friend. You lived a valued life and you are missed. --George
