On Saturday morning, 12 October 2024, the USMA Class of 1969 held its traditional Remembrance at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Mall in Washington, DC. I video-recorded the event and, returning home, some days later posted it on YouTube and Facebook as "Vietnam Wall Ceremony, 2024, USMA 1969, extended play." Carl was the first to reply on Facebook with "Wish I could have been able to attend." When I received notice of his death just a few days afterward, I replied: "To the family: So sorry to hear the sad news via Class emails. You're in my thoughts and prayers...." "Tempus fugit." Rest in peace, Classmate and Facebook Friend! |
