Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Gary Holland on December 28, 2024:
I was a freshman at the University of Oregon when Army played the Ducks in Eugene in 1969. I was watching video of Ducks games from the past recently and for some reason, I thought of that Army game, possibly because of Armys great season this year.
I dont know why I have never forgotten Lynn, but maybe because he was so much fun to watch play on that fall day so many years ago. Clearly the best player on the field, I believe that he returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, the best return I have ever seen (I remember it vividly) and I was thinking that it was a shame that a player with his talent could not play pro ball until after his service obligation.
I have thought about that game on many occasions through the years but today I finally looked up his bio to see what he did after college.
Im very sad to see that he has passed away but he clearly had a stellar military career as well as being a family man. God rest his soul and greetings to his family from a man who has always admired Lynn from afar.
