Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jimmy Stoneking on January 6, 2025:

I never met a better man than Eric. I only knew him at G Co, 3d Regiment West Point. I was his TAC NCO there. I can only imagine how good a man he was before he arrived at USMA. I can assure you reading this that he was a hero to me. I served in th 82nd Airborne Division an brought sll my men and equipment back from Desert Storm. Eric was in a different world however. He could not count on those around him and it costed him his life. I deeply regret that I was not there with him. I assure his family that the officer who took his life would have had 3 9mm rounds in his head before that happened. I am very sorry. I have children who survived through my deployments. And now I have grandkids and a couple greats. Many men have gone before and after your precious son, and as long as we have a United States, so will many more. I only wish we were talking about Eric too. He left us too early and I cry about that about this time of year.
