Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bill Ward, '69 on March 13, 2025:

From reviewing these eulogies, I see that George and I were fellow "eulogizers" for Frank LaPenta. In that eulogy, George regretted not having called Frank one more time, and said basically "If you think it, do it!" This sentiment is also expressed in the King James Version of the Bible, Book Ecclesiastes, Chapter 9, verse 10: "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom in the grave, whither thou goest."

I didn't know him that well--perhaps what is called face recognition terms--but his passing hit me hard.

I remember vividly what George wrote in the Class of 69 20th Reunion Book, quoted verbatim here: "Personal Statement: First I wuz goeing to be cheif of staff. But that didn't werk owt. Then I wuz goning to be kernal, but that didn't werk owt niether. Now I'm retired and that werkt owt feel gud. The end."

So guys, if you have a better recollection of George than I do, let's see it here!
