Be Thou At Peace

| I first met Jim at the USMA entrance exams at Ft Lewis, WA in the spring of 1961, and again at a rush week gathering at my fraternity that same spring, before we both joined the Long Gray Line in the Class of 1965. (Jim sometimes spoke of that among classmates.) We ended up in the same Portuguese language sections and I think goat plebe math sections and became close friends when Cow year found us both in G-2. WE were both from the same state, shared common values and interests, are five numbers apart in our class standing; and with Dick Coleman - another former roommate, married three wonderful women who also became close, and were very much part of our and their lifelong friendship. I salute these faithful friends and thank them for being part of my life. Rest in peace Jim Berry. I owe you and Dick more than you could ever know. |
