Kevin Porter Thompson, age 70, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on December 6, 2024, in Fairfax, VA, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on September 17, 1954, in Huntington, NY, Kevin was a man of exceptional wit, intelligence, and spirit, whose laughter and insightful conversations enriched the lives of all who knew him.

A proud graduate of West Point, class of 1977, Kevin dedicated his early years to serving his country with honor and distinction. His sense of duty was matched only by his commitment to his beloved wife, Colleen Thompson, and their cherished children, Shannon Szafran (Thompson) and Kevin Thompson II. His role as a family man was further blessed with the joy of embracing his son-in-law, Corey Szafran, and the light of his later years, his grandson, Grady Szafran. He was also a proud uncle, brother and friend.

Kevin's life was a testament to the power of love and laughter. His passion for reading allowed him to traverse worlds and times, gifting him with an ever-expanding wealth of knowledge that he generously shared. A true sports enthusiast, Kevin's enthusiasm for his favorite teams was infectious, and game days were always a spirited affair in the Thompson household.

As we bid farewell to Kevin Porter Thompson, we celebrate a life lived with unbridled zest and an unwavering commitment to the ones he loved. His legacy of wisdom, humor, and passion will continue to inspire and guide us. Kevin's memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories shared by those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of his extraordinary journey.
