Don attended the 70th Anniversary Reunion as an example of true grit. Wheel-chair bound, he attended every function, and passed three weeks later. I think one of the highlights for him was his being personally greeted by the Superintendent prior to the wreath-laying ceremony at Thayer Monument. We became close friends while attending CGSC, referenced in the following message about five years ago: Hi Don, Saw your name while browsing thru prayer list, was struck by "broken heart." I�m thinking, be sustained and soothed by all the wonderful memories. I sometimes think about the island we talked about at Leavenworth. We decided Mary would run the brothel, as she was the sweetest person we knew. Remember, dear friend, a wonderful life. Al I would now add "Well Done!" |
