Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Wesley Brooks on August 11, 2025:

Col. Longino was my Little League coach for the Indians at Ft. Monroe Virginia in 1962. We won the title that year with a 10-1 record. It was great having him as coach and my father as assistant coach. I pitched five games (5-0) but we had to move in the middle of the summer, but that's one of the downers of being an Army brat, frequent moves. I didn't know at the time that Col. Longino had been to West Point and served in Korea, later Vietnam. Pretty impressive, as were many of the "top brass" at Ft. Monroe. One of the greatest generation.
