Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Frederick A. Rodgers Jr. on August 25, 2025:
Greg was my Assistant Squad Leader during 1st Semester Plebe Year. He went out of his way to keep me in line and out of trouble as a Plebe Year. On one occasion he "rescued" my misdirected laundry from A-1. Any Plebe in 4th Regiment (Especially I-4) knew not to venture over to the 1st Regiment barracks without knowing where you were going, otherwise you may not ever be heard from again given the 4th Class System and 1st Regiment dynamics. I-4 had a reputation as a Company known for barracks shenanigans, however, Greg was always levelheaded and well respected amongst his company mates. I still remember him enjoying his time with his Class of 1990 classmates in the I-Beam and the camaraderie they demonstrated.
Greg was a great Man and incredible human being. We reconnected after I graduated and moved to Fort Bragg for my 1st duty assignment. I camped out at his house with 2 of his other classmates until I found an apartment. Over the years we have exchanged messages, and it was always great to hear from him. I am not surprised at his professional accomplishments, and I regret not seeing him again in person.
I want to express my deepest condolences to Greg's family and everyone that knew and loved him. Greg had a profound impact on my cadet experience and is one of the reasons why I was able to navigate the USMA experience and graduate. I will miss him terribly.
Well Done Greg! Be Thou at Peace.
I-Beam!
Alex Rodgers (I4/91)
