I was quite troubled learning of Bruce's recent passing. Despite sharing many sections in math and science over the years, I didn't really know Bruce that well until we both returned to, and overlapped at different Academic Departments at West Point in the late 70's. Both of us being junior to our departments upon arrival, we could not get housing at West Point, and instead were ostracized to Stuart :O), myself in one of the unceremonious Stuart duplexes. By mid-tour Bruce had become the Officer Representative of the Golf Team, at a time I was also the Coach of the Plebe Golf Team. And, as much of our late afternoon time after class in the Spring and Fall was spent together at the golf course, the two of us frequently car-pooled to and from Stuart, and that is when I got to know Bruce quite well. We were together, too, on annual Florida Spring golf trips. Everyone knows Bruce was gifted and cruised at very high levels academically; but, having shot some baskets against him in intramural inter-departmental competition, and played a lot of golf with Bruce, many of you may not know how good a natural athlete he was. I felt Bruce would be pretty invincible well into our late years, but boom, he was taken. Bruce was a very good man, and will be missed by many, that is for sure.
