William Cavett Brown, of Georgetown, TX passed away on February 17, 2024, at the age of 97. He was born August 30, 1926, in Beaumont, TX to Sanford Perry Brown and Rozina Cavett Brown. He attended Virginia Military Institute for before being accepted to the United States Military Academy at West Point. He graduated in 1949 and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the Corp of Engineers. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1949 to 1954 and earned the rank of Captain while building roads, bridges, and airstrips in Korea. After active duty, he joined the Army Reserves and served for 25 more years, retiring as a full colonel. He was especially proud of graduating with honors from the Army Command and General Staff College.

Cavett married Helen Irene Bounds in 1950. They had a son, Gregory, and daughter Kevyn.

In 1959, he earned a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Houston.

Following in his father's footsteps, he and his brother, Sandy, started and operated B&B Construction in Beaumont for many years and built homes and commercial buildings. In 1974, he started a successful plastic company in Austin that spanned 40 years and would involve his son and two grandsons. He also managed the American Legion Endowment Fund, worked in financial management for Bayou State Oil Company in Shreveport, LA and as well as numerous other family businesses. He was a faithful member of the Methodist church.

He married Marion "Mickey" Day in 1977. They spent the next 35 years enjoying traveling the world, visiting rock & gem shows, and managing the family timber farm in LA. In later years, Cavett loved his dog Bear, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, computer solitaire, watching football, tending to his beautiful bougainvillea plants, and frequent telephone talks with his sister Rosellen. He was a generous man, had a delightful "quick wit" and benefited all that knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mickey, brothers, Sandy and Bruce, sister, Jimmye and husband, Kayo, granddaughter, Kristi, and brother-in-law Bill Marslender.

He is survived by his sister, Rosellen, daughter, Kevyn Kerr; son, Gregory Brown and wife Kaletah, and Larry Simmons and wife, Carla, 7 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren as well as his special friend, Carol Portugal.

A time of Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home on Saturday, February 24th, 2024. The Celebration of Life will follow at 11:30 a.m., with the rendering of Military Honors by the United States Army. Rev. Jim McLendon will be officiating.

A short Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Wimberley Cemetery. 481 Old Kyle Rd, Wimberley, TX 78676.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his honor to Tunnels to Towers Foundation.

William is loved and will be missed by many.
