Be Thou At Peace

What an incredibly sad report - that Dave Kuhn has passed away. He was so special in so many ways - as a husband to the beautiful Rose, the Dad of great kids, one of the supremely gifted cadets in the West Point Class of 1965, an exceptional athlete on the track, a star man academically, one of the highest ranked leaders in our Corps --- and an amazing friend to so many of us. Following our graduation, he served his country with great skill and courage as a combat aviator in our Air Force. Following that, he built a hugely successful business and was so supportive with charitable gifts to many worthy causes, including of course his alma mater - the Academy. One initiative Dave led which was so impressive was gaining approval from Academy leadership to name the gymnasium for Bob Arvin - who sadly was killed in combat as a young officer in Vietnam. Bob was our Brigade Commander and all of us were thrilled that Dave led the charge to honor Bob in this manner. My friendship with Dave began on day 1 at Camp Buckner - first time we met. We were assigned to the same barracks with Dave taking the top bunk and me the lower. That began decades of wonderful friendship with a multitude of activities throughout all those years. Like so many others, I was blessed to have this incredible man as a brother. God Bless Dave, Rose and their amazing family. Wonderful memories of this friend will inspire us all. Rollie Stichweh
