Be Thou At Peace

Posted by LTC (Ret.) Bruce Kish on April 23, 2026:

LTC David Carraway was my PMS at Temple University and I was in his second-to-last commissioning class in 1991. He was very passionate about stewarding the Profession of Arms as his career neared its end. My subsequent service in the USAR lasted 30 years, 10 months, and the entire time, was completely influenced by his ethic and values.

I'm now a contractor teaching military science for Slippery Rock University Army ROTC MS-IVs, and I try to imbue the upcoming commissioning class with those same values. The very torch he passed to me I now hand off to those future leaders.

Sir, thank you for your time and patience with me, during my time with the "North Broad Street Light Infantry." I did my best with what you taught me and am now sharing it with a future generation. A part of you remains through the continuity of what you learned and passed on to me, and through the future leaders I'm shaping.
