Be Thou At Peace
Posted by CSM (R) Melanie Mapuoletuli on May 23, 2026:
My dear friend and command team "battle buddy", I was Major Roberson's First Sergeant during his company command time that began May 10, 1999. After establishing camaraderie with then CPT ROB, I asked him once over a shared meal what he was most proud of from his time at USMA. CPT ROB replied, "I was a member of the integrity board, truly a privilege, the faith of my leaders and fellow cadets that I was worthy of such." Indeed Ryan, a man of the truest character.
Again, once I asked him during our time together as a command team how he sees his future after his company commander time, his reply, "Well, First Sergeant I've been closely observing my battalion commanders over my time thus far and none of them seem to be happy in their work. It makes a me wonder if it's something I really want to do; however, I love soldiering and I love serving my country." Yes, indeed our smart, talented and compassionate commander a true patriot and the kind a warrior you want leading you when your life is on the line.
Major Roberson spoke of his brother Tim to me and how he worried about him and his aging parents. I understood his heartfelt loyalty to his family and his desire to ease their hardships and lesson their trials. None, I say again, none, come better than Ryan Roberson. I feel cheated at your death, I do miss our conversations and friendship. Rest in Peace my commander, my brother, Regulator 7
