Be Thou At Peace

| Tom and I roomed together Firstie year. I remember him as a natural leder, as a cadet and later as an officer. As a cadet he professed being a goat, which was far from any bit of truth. I was always amazed that he could emerge for under his "Brown Boy" bed covers and in an instant be suitably attired as the Cadet Regimental Commander. After graduation the early tragedy of classmate George Walker's death and the injury to Tom himself was a heartbreaking start to his active duty years. Although we traveled different career paths I always respected Tom for his love of family and his courage in meeting so much adversity during his lifetime. He stood tall among us. |
