Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Brian D Brown on September 10, 2026:
I'm stunned to see my old friend has passed. Gary and I go back to the late 60's where we met at Broadway Elementary school in the Spokane Valley. We grew up on the same street, Bowdish Road, and attended North Pines Junior High and graduated from University High School together in 1976. Gary was a superb athlete all his life. He played QB and was captain of the football team in HS. I was very happy for him when it was announced that he had an appointment to West Point specifically to play football.
He was a person who got along with everyone thanks to his non-judgemental attitude towards all. He had a great sense of humor and I always enjoyed getting him to laugh.
I last saw Gary when we had lunch together in Issaquah, a suburb east of Seattle and Bellevue in 1997. We had a wonderful time as we laughed about times we were getting in trouble together as kids. He brought me up to date with info concerning his family as well as his wife and stepchildren.
I have nothing but good memories concerning Gary. May he rest eternally in peace.
