OUR VISIT WITH JON & SUSAN:
Several years ago, we stopped by and spent the night with my former Roomie and good friend, Jon Thompson and his lovely wife Susan.
After a great home-cooked dinner with several Classmates followed by cocktails and more war stories, Jon escorted us up to his Guest Bedroom, of which he was quite excited!
Entering the room, we observed a massive 4-Poster bed suspended on large, decorative chains, from the ceiling. I estimated the darn thing probably weighed in excess of 250 - 300 pounds. And it swung back and forth.
One entered and exited the bed by a relatively unstable 2-stepper device. I imagined that one (especially one in his 70's with squeaky legs) also took his/her life in his/her hands entering and, especially, exiting same swinging bed in the middle of the night.
Jon was ecstatic about his "swinging bed" and told us "Not to worry, no one has fallen - yet!"
Whoopee! Cathy and I spent a peaceful, swinging night after we decided that our usual nocturnal bathroom visit would be on "hold" that night!
Only "Dad" Thompson, our oldest living Classmate, would hand a Guest Bed!
Great guy! Great Classmate! Great friend! We will miss him!
