Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Matt Redmond on December 20, 2005:

Robey was a true friend. He was one of those guys you could call from out of the blue and talk with him like you'd seen each other yesterday. I recall contacting him when I learned I was moving to Ft. Stewart. He and Erik Littlejohn volunteered to help me move into an apartment in Hinesville. Robey didn't even flinch when he found out I had a piano to move. He may have burst out with his characteristic "Oh, my heck!" but he helped me move that monster.

I also recall how Robey managed to work the Mastercard "Priceless" approach into his change of command speech when he took command of an MP company in the 3rd Infantry Division. Pretty cool. He managed to do it while maintaining a professional demeanor. I think it set the tone for his soldiers that he liked to have fun but wasn't going to compromise the mission for it.

Robey was a member of the D-1 Ducks' "Hanging Five". Robey was "Table Man". Robey was a leader. Robey was my friend. I will miss him.
