Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Alton Hayes on January 8, 2006:
Many people take for granted our freedom, our liberty, and our right to persue our own happiness in this country. It is easy to get caught up in the day to day grind and forget about what's important and what really matters. Friends and family are very special to me, even more now since Stephen is no longer with us. I never really paid much attention to war, politics or a lot of what was going on around me until this tragedy. It really hits home when someone you love is killed; it's no longer some far off thing that doesn't matter. Every morning when I get up in my warm house and hop in my truck to go to work I'm thankful that Stephen and everyone else in the Armed Forces are doing and have done such a great job for the U.S. I wish that Stephen and I would have gotten to go hunting, fishing and camping together. He was a very good man and a role model for everyone. It impressed me that I never once saw him lose his cool in any situation. I never realized how dedicated you had to be to get into, let alone graduate from West Point ( until I saw it myself). There may be thousands and thousands of soldiers that have died in wars past that may not be remembered, but Captain Stephen Frank will never be forgotten in my home. I have an American Flag and a wall in my garage that has articles about Stephen so that I never forget or take for granted my freedom. Some people don't agree with tatoos, but I am proud to have Stephen's name and brigade symbol on my arm. I tell everybody that sees my tatoo about Stephen, what a good man he was and that he is part of the reason that we have freedom as we know it today. I hope that I can be half the man that Stephen was. My thoughts, prayers, and love always will be with all of the Frank family, my sister, and my precious nephew Alex. Love you and miss you Stephen!!!!
