Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Mike Nemeth on January 13, 2006:

I was deeply saddened by the news of MAJ Hecker?s death. Those looking through this eulogy site should know that MAJ Hecker was an inspiring Army officer and a dedicated instructor while teaching at USMA. I first met MAJ Hecker when I was a plebe in his English class. His commitment to making us stumble through recitations was only rivaled by his incessant playing of St. Louis Cardinals games over internet radio before class. I noticed his tremendous wit and kept in touch with him as I started pursuing my own writing at West Point. A few of my ?Center Stall? articles on www.centerstall.com were anonymously edited by MAJ Hecker, who was always willing to offer his help to a fellow writer. As a role model for every ?Renaissance Man? he?ll be missed. I know that he?s up there smiling on us all - and also still very frustrated with my constant use of passive voice?

Well done.
Be thou at peace.
