I served with Bill in the Department of English, much to my pleasure. Bill was a particularly bright and diligent officer who served with distinction in the Department. Among stellar performers, he stood out in terms of his dedication to the Academy and the Army mission. He had an inventive mind that, paired with a willingness to work as hard as required to accomplish his projects, set him apart from those around him. Having him in the Department of English at West Point was inspiring in that he led others to greater dedication and effectiveness, and he made day-to-day activities more vibrant and enjoyable. I served in the Department for twenty-five years. Bill was one of the people on my special memory list. His friends in uniform, the Academy, and the Army will all miss him and his contributions.
