I met Bill only a few years ago, but he has become my closest friend. As officemates in the Department of English, we spent nearly every day together, and I treasure the memory of those days. Bill has always been a complex man, of diverse talents and interests. And he's always been a passionate man, incandescent in his love for his Cardinals, coffee, Poetry--and, more significantly, his family and his God. To Richelle and kids: You are in my prayers daily, and will continue to be. I can't be of much help to you from Baghdad, but want to be. To Bill: You and I had aspirations of pairing up again as teachers at West Point, and it destroys me that that we can't. You're my brother and closest friend always. |
