Be Thou At Peace

Posted by A Fellow Officer on February 5, 2006:

My sincere sympathy goes out to Ben's family. I met Ben a few short weeks before I deployed to Iraq myself. I left about a month before he did. He was one of the last people I saw the day I left and remember him wishing me "good luck." I am fighting an entirely different war than Ben. He and his Soldiers put their lives on the line everyday so that Soldiers like mine are protected within the confines of our foward operating base, fullfilling our duties for this war in a different way. I admire men like Ben and am incredibly grateful for his ultimate sacrifice, making it so much safer for the rest of us over here. I thank him and I will never forget him.

Every Sunday I return to this page. It reminds me of all I have to be thankful for. I believe Ben was a great leader and I wish I could have known him better. I keep him in my prayers.
