| I didn't know this happened until just now. I was Z's sponsor at West Point. I went and saw him swim a few times, but what I will remember is that first semester plebe who got a D on his first test. He was so shocked that he came to my office for AI Additional Instruction, several times. I think he ended up with a B from pure hard work. What a good kid. I adopted him for the sponsor thing because his sponsor had left or something. He came by for the Superbowl and all that stuff and at Christmas he gave me some homemade paper mache reindeer. I just remember that smile and energy and piercing fire. I didn't know he was gone. I'm in Iraq now and I'll pray for the family. I'm very sorry this happened. |
