Ian was an outstanding officer. We arrived at 1-10 CAV on the same day during OIF 1 and he worked for me as the Assistant S3 for over 3 months on the Iran/Iraq border. He attacked every mission and was a great asset to myself and the commander. Ian worked tirelessly on establishing initial Iraqi Border Police training plans and ensured the squadron adequately resourced both the training and stand-up. He moved on to 1st Brigade shortly after and continued to do great things there. My prayers are with his wife and family. Ian was a leader that will be missed by his soldiers, peers, and superiors.
