I cannot begin to put into words the extreme sadness I felt when I heard of Ian's death today. I sponsored his wife Wendy during her first three years at West Point when I was an admissions officer. I first met Ian when he and Wendy were attending CAS3 at Fort Leavenworth in 2002. Ian and I were going to play golf, but were rained out. The world is a sadder place without Ian. This will be tough for Wendy but she will make it. She is the one who will be tasked to tell Jonathan how much Ian loved him and that his life lives on in the people that loved him. |
