Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Josie on April 27, 2006:

It has been almost year since I first heard that Steve was even in the Middle East. I was working in Korea, serving in the USAF and delivering the news to the troops in the Pacific. I gave my report, stepped off the news set and asked about the next days dedication to those who had given their all in the War on Terror...I never received any names...just how many and how the members died. A week later I got word that one of the men killed in action that I had just given a news brief about...was Steve. Our Steve. My diving buddy and companion along the trails of the Hudson and the highways between West Point and Farmington Hills, MI... home of cheese balls, Turkey dinners and and an extended family that still fills my heart and soul with such great joy. Steve, who loved Dukes of Hazard and couldn't dance without watching his feet (if he even got out on the dance floor). Dearest Steve...and to those who had the honor to meet a man who defined patriotism, exuded personal endurance and demonstrated true friendship and galantry...it has taken me over a year to gather the strength to write about someone who I think about everyday...EVERYDAY. Although I wear the same uniform, I know that I do not posses a fraction of the determination and pride Cpt. Steven Frank lived and breathed... "but I promise you I try daily to live up to what you instilled in me...what you shared and what you gave...immeasurable..." Good Journey and Many Blessings...my Friend.
