Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Pat M Stevens IV on May 9, 2006:

Bob will be missed as he already has been. Bright, poised, and sharp, Bob was a leader. I last saw him in the 809th Engineer Bn in Thailand, where we and several other classmates (Pat Tate, Ed Tezak, Galen Yanagihara, Bruce Miller, Sam Thompson, Jim Ruth) were second lieutenants trying to do well and stay out of the way!

Bob was quietly thoughtful with a good sense of humor. I recall he seemed to be better prepared every day than, at least, I was. While I did not know Bob well at West Point (we were in different Regiments), I knew him as fellow engineer and friend in Thailand.

Tracking him later, I watched him rise to engineering prominence and leadership in our country, and he died as he lived, serving the US through innovative industrial contributions and international ties.

Well done, Bob. You have well earned your rest; your course is done.
