West Point, 1999

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by CPT Regan Campbell on June 4, 2006:

The country and our generation lost a fine man with the passing of Doug. I was fortunate enough to spend four years at West Point with this impressive and inspiring guy. Doug served as a role model for all the '99 guys assigned to C3 in 1996 & 1997. He helped so many of us through our difficult plebe year with his positive, "give 'em hell" attitude. I never remember Doug feeling sorry for himself or complaining like so many of us did during that trying first year at WP.

Doug was born to be a leader of men and he gave the ultimate sacrifice while bravely leading the youth of our nation into harms way. We mourn his loss, but celebrate his bright and shining life. He was one of the good guys and I shall never forget him.
