Be Thou At Peace

Posted by David Allen on June 6, 2006:

It's hard to believe the world has lost so great a man as Doug. He was an outstanding person and a superlative professional. As a fellow Ops Research major, Doug and I spent countless hours together with Joe Anderson and Jonny Culp, laughing and talking about how great the "real" Army was going to be while working through the latest project. Those are great memories that I will always cherish.

Though I have never had the opportunity to meet his family, my heartfelt prayers are with them. The huge loss to the Army and our great Nation are secondary only to the tremendous loss of Doug's family. I sincerely pray for God to carry you, Nicole, through these terrible times. May He watch over you and Dakin, bless you in all that you do, and help you continue to feel Doug's love throughout your lives. May He also help Dakin understand how great and wonderful his Daddy was, and help him know that Doug will always be right there with him, with his infectous smile and love for life, shouting "Live free, or die!"

Most Respectfully,
Dave Allen
