Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Georgianna Smith on July 23, 2006:
Kevin was the best son a mother could ever have had. A true gift from God. He always encouraged others around him driven by his deep faith in God. Always positive,"Winners never quit, Quitters never win." his favorite saying. His other favorite saying was "Don't sweat the small stuff!" There's too much joy in life to concentrate on. He also believed your body and mind was a gift from God, his personal temple in each person. He tried hard to keep himself and anyone around him physically fit, 50 push-ups before you left the building. He told me in October 2005: The hate these insurgents have is so powerful and it motivates them to do terrible things without conscience. He was profoundly effected by 9/11. He didn't want the hate and abuse the families of the mid-east to become part of American society. He was willing to die to keep us safe and being able to love one another. Love brings peace everyone needs to enjoy living. He would not want us to be angry because he was murdered but to look for ways to help one another in love. God will have His justice when Jesus returns. He would want us to help the young men now suffering terrible injuries and trying to find some quality to life again. He would want us to hug more and spend quality time any chance we can with our families making great memories.
I am blessed with all good memories of Kevin's childhood, many great soccer games, pride in his achievements at West Point and great taste in picking a lovely sweet fiancee, Dana. We love her for the joy she brought to his life.
