Christian Foltz Rupp, 3d

Born December 4 1928 ? Died November 19. 2003

Christian Foltz "Chris" Rupp, III was born in Michigan on 4 December 1928 and was appointed to West Point from the 18th Congressional District of Pennsylvania.

His West Point classmates recall: "From the pool halls of Pennsylvania, via tin school, to the salt mines of USMA came Chris, with his broad back and hearty laugh. Not quite a star man, he was the hiviest goat in the Corps. Renowned as a cue-chalker among class club society, he also bats a mean handball. Next to chasing femmes, his favorite sport is shooting the breeze, especially after taps. All told, he is one good guy."

During his cadet days Chris went out for Football all four years and earned a Monogram; was with the Ski Club plebe and yearling years; with the Handball Club yearling and first class years; with the Weight Lifting Club yearling; and was a Cadet Sergeant his first class year.

Upon graduation Chris went in the Infantry and after completing the Basic Infantry Course at Fort Benning, Georgia reported to the 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Division in Korea from 1952 to 1953 and was decorated with two Bronze Star Medals (one for valor) for distinguished heroism against an enemy; and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Chris' next assignment was to the 11th Airborne Division where he served until 1955 when he resigned his commission as a First Lieutenant. In 1979 Chris became Sales Manager for Bay State Abrasives.

Chris and his wife Adele made their home in Orchard Lake, Michigan.

He died on November 19, 2003.
