Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bob Merritt on August 29, 2006:

I remember Dave Maddux in 1969 blitzing thru Wiesbaden, looking for Greg Johnson (who called him Madball), but ending up with me, since Jonce was gone on some trip. Dave wanted to hear a Russian choir (Yuri Orloff, I think) that was performing downtown. We took it in, and I still remember the awesome basso profundos. It was likely the best choir performance I have ever heard. Of course, suffering through a couple of years of Russian at school helped. I'm grateful for that night. The man had class!
