Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Yolanda Ramirez-Raphael on September 18, 2006:

Emily,
Ever since I met you when we were 17 year old little girls at IAW I knew somehow our lives would be intertwined. You were and still are my Roommate with a capital R, as we used to say. Even though your high GPA, military ranking, and PT scores took you away from me 2nd semester cow and firstie years, you were my Roommate.

I know I couldn't have made it through school without you. Between the tutoring and the good example you were, I learned a lot about hard work and dedication. I remember one time when you came to talk to me and I was using what I learned in Counseling class and you were like..."you're using counseling on me!"

Quite frankly, I don't know how I am going to make it through this without you. Whenever I was troubled or felt despair, you'd find just the perfect Bible verse to help me see through the clouds. As I sit here and cry I wonder what it would be you would have me read now.

We used to joke that between you and I we had one whole Puerto Rican person in our room. Now that old joke has more poignant meaning-you completed parts of me. You'd always make fun of how "too nice" I was and you told me Yuk year you'd teach me how to stand up for myself more, and you certainly did. I think I taught you about make-up brushes-hardly a fair trade, but I contributed what I could.

I love you girl, and I know the good Lord is so happy to have an angel like you back with Him.

"Where you used to be, there is a hole in the world, which I find myself constantly walking around in the daytime, and falling in at night. I miss you..."
