Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Aubrey Williams on September 23, 2006:

It's funny how you never realize the impact people have on your life. How you see someone every day for two years, how you wave and smile and chat with them, and then suddenly they're gone and you are left stunned and moved and so greatly changed...

For the two years I ran track at USMA, I saw Emily every single day. She was always smiling, always laughing; you could hear her voice from a mile away as she talked with her friends on the team. She was focused but balanced, happy but professional... a model cadet on all accounts. We were never really friends, but always teammates...

I always hear the names of fallen graduates here at school, but I have never known one of them; now I do, and I am forever changed because I have known Emily. She impacted more lives than she probably realized, and I can tell the Corps has changed because of her. Emily, you are in my prayers and heart always.
