Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Sindi Hamilton on September 25, 2006:

I didn't have the priviledge of knowing 2LT Emily Perez long but I was blessed when she crossed my path. I enjoyed every moment I was blessed to sing with her. She was a natural alto. I immediately picked up on her beautiful alto voice and right away I started picking songs out for her in my mind. I remember her 1st choir practise with New Birth Gospel Choir here on FOB Kalsu she told me so humbly "Sister Hamilton I want you to know that we come to help and fit in service where ever you need us." I didn't realize then that she was the Choir director for the Gospel Service at FOB Duke. From what I observed she carried herself well and she was comical too. I was looking foward to knowing her more, especially because she displayed a passion to sing. I just hope that during my time of knowing her that the love and kindness I tried my hardest to show her was genine in her eyes. To her parents, I can't imagine what it's like to loose a child but I know God knows what it feels like. That is what I love about God so much is that HE KNOWS. He is not a God that can't be touched by what we feel or go through. Even when I look at how he created the natural seasons how they preach a message about the seasons we will experience during life's journey. In the fall tree limbs and leaves die and they fall to the ground. When spring comes around new life begans and life much more than the deaths in fall. So I say that yes we will miss her dearly but her death has brought so many in life to a greater appreciation of life and the quality of it. God bless you.
