Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dan Henshaw on November 7, 2006:

?Rest in peace -- patriot and warrior. Well Done." Thank you Amos for your superior service.

On 30 OCT 06, I had the honor of placing a lapel pin on the guest register. The lapel pin contained the Army flag, the American flag and the West Point crest. Please accept it as a token of respect from a grateful nation.

To Amos' family ? please accept our sincere condolence. Most of us can not imagine your pain or loss during such a difficult time. With a heavy heart and memories of fellow soldiers, we come to share your pain.

Your son made a tremendous sacrifice so that we could enjoy the freedoms that we have today and for that we are forever grateful to Amos.

Thank you for your service as you supported Amos in this cause against a brutal, cowardly and evil enemy. Because of Soldiers like Amos and families -- like the Riley and Jill Bock family -- we will be victorious in this battle against an enemy with a mission to destroy us.

As a Vietnam era veteran and the father of a West Point cadet, my heart felt sympathies go out to your entire family.

These soldiers are our brightest and our best that we, as a nation, have to offer. The people of this world owe you more than they will ever realize.

Remember -- we haven?t lost Amos, we know where he is as we are told in John 15:13.

On Monday, October 30, 2006 ? as I drove from St. Louis to Houston, TX ? I had the opportunity of visiting New Madrid, MO for the first time. I drove by the elementary school, Evergreen Cemetery, court house, funeral home and the high school.

Plus, I stopped by the Mississippi to remember some of my childhood adventures of growing up on the Mississippi. Now each time I see the Mississippi, I will think of Amos and your family.

God Bless you and keep you close.
