Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Friend on November 13, 2006:

Dennis,

I can't believe it's been a whole year since I heard the horrible news that you had been killed. It still doesn't even feel real. I'm waiting for my phone to ring and see your name on the caller ID and pick up to hear you ragging on me about something.

It's amazing to me to see how many people's lives you touched. Sometimes I just feel lucky to have known you at all. You used to tell me that you just wanted to be "some guy, someone small, but memorable" ... I don't think you knew how big you were. It was impossible to know you and not love you.

Look out for us - especially your parents and siblings. Help us to live more like you did. I've admired you for as long as I can remember - and I try, but I don't know how you found whatever it was you had inside you that made you what you were. I know God is holding you close. I hope Heaven is as wonderful as you.
