Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Zeroy Lawson on November 29, 2006:
Dave, your smiling face will be missed around here at 3-67AR. There are a lot of grieving faces as the battalion comes home, weary from a year of uncertainty and danger. I know hearts are heaviest in Echo Company, the Command Group and in the S3 right now. You touched a lot of people's lives and had the greatest confidence from everyone you worked with. It's so hard to think that you're not coming home with us to celebrate and recover from a long year. It makes a lot of us want to go back just to find the guy responsible; but moving on and forgiving is one thing I know you would do. It's what a true Christian does.
I truly hope your family and closest friends understand that there are a lot of troops coming home from MND-B to be with their families and loved ones because of the brave work you did as a Combat Engineer along the most truly lethal routes in Iraq. I owe my life to great men like you and CPT Jason Hamill and the soldiers you led because you all did the job that few others do - and did it without question. We're going to miss you greatly. Be thou at peace.
